This is a trend in France, their concept is to be a fast dessert and coffee at the same time. In Europe, is used to get the the three courses lunch or dinner and after that then you drink your coffee, tea, infusion, etc.
Here we have a fast meal, or what they consider “fast”. This is not fast food on the way of junk food we know, this is very good homemade food but ready to go and instead of a very long meal of three courses, we have a one-course full meal and finishing with a coffee accompanied with “mignardises” (tiny versions of pastries, bite-size).
So, yes! Le Café Gourmand is a dessert with an espresso coffee, normally 3 small pieces of sweets make a good contrast with the dark and strong coffee and gives to the client the chance to try three desserts instead of s big one. Perfect for an informal time!
